Distinctly Black Country Launch

distinctly black country launch
Wednesday 18 May, 6.30 – 9.00 pm
The Public, West Bromwich
What makes the landscape of the Black Country different? Join us for an exclusive lecture with
Dr Chris Upton, Senior Lecturer in the History at Newman University who will compare the development of the Black Country & Birmingham.
There will also be an opportunity to hear more from local experts about two new online resources which relate to the Black Country's unique lanscape.
www.distinctlyblackcountry.org.uk aims to create a better collective understanding of the historic landscape of the Black Country, in particular its distinguishing features, and promote a connection with the history of the area by using the landscape as a tool for learning.
Meanwhile, www.the-blackcountry.com/atlas maps the large number of quarries in the Black Country which were used to produce sand, gravel and crushed rock.
